Athletic Therapists provide care on field and in clinic. Whether you are experiencing a sports injury or a nagging recurring injury athletic therapists can help. We can help you with many injuries involving the musculoskeletal system. Treatment includes; manual therapy, modalities (ultrasound, electrotherapy, heat, cold), massage techniques, taping, and bracing as well as exercise prescription.

Athletic Therapists are also well trained in concussion management. If you sustain a concussion we monitor and treat your symptoms as well as determine return to play guidelines. We also perform baseline concussion testing.

What can I expect during my first athletic therapy appointment?

A thorough assessment is done first which includes your health history, goals, analyzing posture as well as range of motion, strength and joint mobility. The assessment determines the source of pain or movement impairment and thus guides treatment. Treatment option are then discussed prior to starting your recovery process.

What's the difference between Athletic Therapy and Physiotherapy?

Athletic Therapists focus on musculoskeletal injuries while physiotherapists treat a broader scope of clients with injuries or conditions involving musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory, and neurological systems. Treatment of musculoskeletal injuries are very similar between athletic therapists and physiotherapists.

Do you direct bill to insurance companies?

Yes. We direct bill to many insurance companies. Many insurance plans with athletic therapy coverage require a referral from either a nurse practitioner or medical doctor. If you are unsure about your coverage please call our office or your insurance provider.

Do you work with clients who qualify for athletic therapy with WCB or MPIC?
